Finding your way around the desktop timer

Welcome to the focus booster desktop app!

You can use the desktop timer to time all the pomodoro sessions you do. All the data will be sent back to the web app where it will populate your timesheets and reports.

Before you get too far in, if you haven't already, download focus booster and open it up!

Getting started

When you open the desktop timer you will be prompted to log in using your username and password.

To open the menu just click on the menu icon.

  1. Session timer
  2. Clicking this menu item will take you back to the timer display.

  3. Preferences
  4. Change your timer preferences here. You can do the following;

    • Set the length of your sessions and breaks.
    • Select to have the ticking sound playing throughout a session or a break, or not at all.
    • Set a notification sound for both the end of your break and the end of a session.
    • Enable this focus booster window to minimise upon opening the mini timer.
    • Choose the color of your timer, you can choose from a dark or a light theme.
  5. Account
  6. You will log in here when you first open the timer, you can also use this page to open the web app or sign out.

  7. Play
  8. This is the play button and the stop button, you can’t pause focus booster but you do have an option of saving an incomplete session so you do have the option of recording the time you spent.

  9. Progress bar
  10. This circle around the timer display transitions from green to red as the timer counts down and then reverses back the other way in blue during the break.

  11. Mini timer
  12. If you want to be able to see the timer at all times, use the mini timer (click the clock icon) and sit it in the corner of your screen. It always stays on top.

  13. Labels
  14. Add labels to your sessions, so you know what you spent your time on! This is a free text field but it also auto suggests labels you have used recently and then suggests based on what you type too. This means you have easy access to past labels.

  15. Clients
  16. Add your clients in this field, you can add new clients or select from previous ones. You can also configure hourly rates to calculate revenue under the client tab in the web app. If you don't have clients turn them off in the preferences of the web app.
